MyDESMOND approved and available on the NHS apps library
DESMOND’s interactive digital platform, MyDESMOND has been approved and welcomed on to the trusted NHS apps library as a valuable resource for people preventing or managing type 2 diabetes.
A welcome step for people who have been unable to access face-to-face group education during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The NHS apps library has been established as a go to resource for apps and online tools, to support health and well-being management.
Part of the robust assessment process set out by the NHS apps library ensures programmes adhere to national standards, regulations and industry best practice.
This guarantees only safe and secure digital resources are published.
MyDESMOND programmes are evidence and research driven from the award winning DESMOND self-management education. MyDESMOND has been developed with the support of The Leicester Diabetes Centre, the international centre of excellence in diabetes research, education and innovation, led by Co-Directors Professor Melanie Davies CBE and Professor Kamlesh Khunti.
Professor Davies, Professor of Diabetes Medicine at the University of Leicester, said: “People with type 2 diabetes are adapting to the way they manage their condition. With MyDESMOND now available on the NHS app library, it will be a valuable resource for those with type 2 diabetes as well as a reliable and credible source of information.”
Currently the programmes available under licence on the MyDESMOND platform are:
Type 2 diabetes – this programme is suitable for anyone with a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes
Let’s Prevent Diabetes – our programme for those who find themselves at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes
Babysteps – a programme designed specifically for women who had previously been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes
