Diabetes self-management programme hits 50,000 users!
The MyDESMOND team is celebrating the remarkable milestone of 50,000 users signed up and committed to improving how they self-manage type 2 diabetes and their overall health.
MyDESMOND is the online version of the award-winning DESMOND self-management diabetes education developed by Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC). It brings together the content and research evidence from the NICE-approved face-to-face DESMOND self-management programmes to a portable interactive web-based platform to support people in managing their health.
Alison Northern, LDC Implementation Lead, said: "We are delighted that MyDESMOND continues to grow. It has become an excellent go-to resource and continues to be a welcoming and reassuring self-management programme. We are working on some exciting projects to develop the platform further to ensure it is suitable for everyone living with, or at risk of, type 2 diabetes and other long-term conditions so watch this space!"
One user commented:
“It helped me have a better understanding of type 2 diabetes and how to manage it and hopefully reduce my risks.”
