Celebrating DESMOND Awards 2023
We are pleased to announce that the Celebrating DESMOND Awards are back & better than ever in this 20th year of DESMOND!
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED!
The last few year has seen a lot of change in the world of diabetes care and education since our last awards in 2019. We would like to hear about the work that you and your colleagues have been undertaking to keep your services going and continue to provide five-star services for your patients.
This year we welcome you to get imaginative with your applications. We would love to see some video or audio file submissions, but if writing is your forte, then we have provided space within our application form for this also.
We will be in touch with all applicants via email w/c 21 August 2023.
With a celebratory event to be held at the Leicester Diabetes Centre on Wednesday 11 October 2023, with guest speakers and workshops throughout the morning and early afternoon, and awards presentation to end the day.
We have five categories which are listed below, along with a few hints/tips for each:
1. The Deirdre McGowan Educator of the Year
Can be nominated or nominate self
Makes a difference to the lives of people with or at risk of type 2 diabetes
Shows a outstanding commitment to the DESMOND philosophy and principles
Supports and mentors fellow educators as well as the participant learners
2. Team of the Year
Delivering high-quality education to people with or at risk of type 2 diabetes
Strive to be the best at what they do
3. Innovation
Develops and tests new innovative ideas in their DESMOND service
4. Impact
Can show a meaningful impact on the lives of people with or at risk of type 2 diabetes
Has quantitative as well as qualitative evaluation to quantify their impact (please include results in application)
5. Excellence
This could be an individual (such as your coordinator, administrator or an educator) or it could be related to the whole team
