Hero img DW webpage.jpg

14 June 2021 marks the start of UK Diabetes Week - this may be far from your minds with continued service disruption and redeployments, but if you are looking for some ideas for promoting your service the spring-board of Diabetes Week is always a great place to start.

We have created some resources below to help you along the way, as well as provided links below to other articles that may provide you with further inspiration. And the Diabetes UK page always has some some great free resources and ideas - click here to find out more. The theme this year is ‘Your Week. Your Voice. Your Stories’ - and we would love to hear yours and your patients stories.

Social Media

  • Social media card - which can be used on posts and as your page banner

  • Tweets - for some tweet/post suggestions. You could adapt for your other social media platforms and pass to your local Communications Teams to see if they want to get involved

  • Further info and ideas about using social media can be found here

Find DESMOND and MyDESMOND flyers, logos etc here covering all of our education modules

Pharmacies

As patients are tending to refrain from coming into practices currently, one place they still visit is their pharmacy - click here for some ideas about how to utilise pharmacies for the promotion of your DESMOND service.

Social Prescribers

Social Prescribers are quickly becoming a vital role in our communities taking a holistic approach to people’s health and wellbeing. They connect people to community groups and statutory services for practical and emotional support. And as such can ask as a promotor for your local DESMOND services - so make sure they are in the know about what you have to offer and how patients can access them. Some of the resources mentioned here or that you have developed locally will help them to get a better idea of what attended a group or using MyDESMOND is all about.

Get Telling Your Stories

@DESMOND_tweets is our Twitter handle, we would love it if you would retweet or reply to our tweets as well.

We would love to hear your stories including your #desmondstory tag us into your posts. Here’s to a great Diabetes Week 2021!
